Welcome to the UNDER CONSTRUCTION SURF CLUB. Designed to help you get waves and surf better.

This is the weekly platform to:
- Plan out surfs.
- Give you current surf spots to check for the week.
- Work on general technique.
- Get challenged, etc.

This newsletter is here to help create a community and serve as a platform to give you our best advice on tackling surfing week by week.

To start, let’s dive into planning your sessions using Surfline. If you don’t have an account, don’t worry - This week, PAGAN USA will give you our own version of the report Monday - Friday.

Digging into this coming week, the forecast ain’t looking great... But, we can still get after it and put in work!

Realistically, we understand that surfing everyday isn’t always in the cards. On the same note, if you’ve subscribed to this newsletter, you’re in the UCSC (Under Construction Surf Club) which means we build everyday. Rain or shine.

Weekly Challenge 🛠️

This week we invite you to:

1. Start your day with a morning session, catching at least 3 waves in an hour and setting the tone for an incredible day ahead.
2. Then if you can pull it off, keep the stoke going with at least a 45 min afternoon session.
3. If you can’t surf a day from Monday to Friday, get at least 30 min of exercise in the sun.

Surf Spots with sandbars to keep your eyes on:

South Bay: North Torrance, South Side Manhattan Beach Pier, North Side Manhattan Beach Pier, Dockweiler, Playa Del Rey Jetties.

North LA: Venice Break Water, Sunset Beach, Topanga, Malibu, Joe’s, County Line.

Forecast

*forecast is subject to changes following this email.

Monday 6AM

2-3 Fair

1.4ft at 13 sec SSW

0.9ft at 5 sec WSW

Low Tide 4:33am -0.7ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: A 13 sec period is a longer period even when there isn’t much swell. With a negative low tide rising, a decreasing South dominant swell, look at points in the Malibu area around 6AM to have some options. Tide push action!

If you’re in the South Bay, look around the Manhattan area (pier, marine st.) and also keep an eye out on the Playa Del Rey and Venice zones. Some sneaky sessions can be had on a low to rising tide. You’ll most likely be going left!

Board Recommendation: This week it’s all about foam. Dust off the old log, plug the wave storm holes with wax or break out that brand new summer shape and let it glide baby!

Monday 3PM

2-3 Poor to Fair

1.4ft at 13 sec SSW

0.7ft at 10sec SSW

Low Tide 3:26pm 2.6ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: Afternoons in the South Bay can be tough when it’s small but keep an eye out for some fun quick rides in north Torrance, Manhattan Beach and Venice.

Board Recommendation: FOAM is your friend.

Tuesday 6AM

2-3 Fair

1.8ft at 13 sec SSW

0.9ft at 6 sec W

Low Tide 5:04am -0.6ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: Don’t sleep on an increase from 1.4-1.8ft! In a game of inches, that could be the difference in leaving your favorite board at home and just bringing a wave storm…

If you’re in the South Bay, keep looking around the Manhattan area (pier, marine st.) and also the Playa Del Rey and Venice zones. Until we have more wind-swell, you’ll most likely be going left!

Board Recommendation: FOAM, FOAM, FOAM.

Tuesday 3PM

2-3 Poor to Fair

1.8ft at 10 sec SSW

1ft at 6 sec W

Low Tide 4:01M 2.6ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: Afternoons might be tough but if you notice, the two swells in the water are getting closer in height and period. Sometimes this means that they merge together and create “peakier” options, especially on the lower tides and at the beach breaks.

Board Recommendation: FOAM is your friend.

Wednesday 6AM

2-3 Fair

1.7ft at 6 sec W

1.2ft at 9 sec SSW

Low Tide 5:34am -0.4ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: The wind swell increasing as the SSW swell decreases. Probably best to avoid the points especially on a super low tide. Upside is, probably NOT crowded. Stick to the beach beaks and find a sandbar. Probably mixing in more rights then just only going left with the small cross up of swells.

Board Recommendation: This week it’s all about foam. Definitely break something you can whip around easier. Length of ride is going to be shorter.

Wednesday 3PM

2-3 Poor to Fair

1ft at 13 sec SSW

1.5ft at 6 sec W

Low Tide  4:37PM 2.6ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: Same recommendation as Tuesday.

Board Recommendation: FOAM is your friend.

Thursday 6AM

2-3 Fair

2ft at 6sec W

0.8ft at 13 sec SW

Low Tide 6:11am -0.2ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: We’re at 2ft baby! Wind swell is great for the South Bay. We face straight West. Not big by any means but should have a little more strength in the wave.

Keep your South Bay spots in the cards. North Torrance and even Playa Del Rey could see some fun waves.

Board Recommendation: Stay with the foam and a board with volume.

Thursday 3PM

2-3 Poor to Fair

1.6ft at 6 sec W

0.7ft at 13 sec SW

Low Tide 5:26pm 2.5ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: Wind swell is down. Might be fun for a quick session or a swim before sunset.

Board Recommendation: FOAM or Swimsuit for a swim.

Friday 6AM

2-3 Fair

2.1ft at 6 sec W

0.6ft at 12 sec SW

Low Tide 6:39am 0.1ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: We’re at 2ft again! Wind swell is great for the South Bay, so get on it early. Again, not big by any means but should have a little more push. South Bay should have some little waves.

Board Recommendation: Stay with the foam and a board with volume.

Friday 3PM

2-3 Poor to Fair

1.5ft at 5 sec W

0.7ft at 12 sec SW

Low Tide 6:10pm 2.5ft

Surf Spot Recommendation: Probably not much on tap. Probably best for a beach run or a swim.

Board Recommendation: Swim Time.
